Third Sector Partners, a leading CxO and board search firm in the Not for Profit sector has been retained by Aide et Action India to recruit their Country Director.
Aide et Action INTERNATIONAL:
Established in 1981 Aide et Action (AEA) is a development organization whose objective is to facilitate the progress of the cause of "Education For All". Now an international NGO headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, Aide et Action International (AEAI) is currently working in 22 countries worldwide.
Aide et Action INDIA:
Over the past twenty-six years AEAI’s operations have spread over 12 states and 3 Union Territories in India in partnership with Civil Society Organizations and through directly implemented projects.
With a staff of approximately 100 people (plus approximately 400 indirectly employed by AEAI on projects), AEAI has been working in the education sector focusing on creating access to children from disadvantaged communities.
AEAI is keen to build the leadership cadre in the South Asia region and is looking for a dynamic leader to manage the India operations. The Country Director would be expected to build and drive the India program based on the themes of AEAI, particularly in terms of:
• Mission
• Influence on public policies
• Fundraising (institutional and private).
Key tasks of the Country Director:
1. Participate in the Association’s strategic reflection process and its overall steering as a member of its International Directors’ Council (IDC).
2. Develop, coordinate and supervise the projects undertaken by AEAI in India, in order to maximize their impacts in terms of social and educational change.
3. Develop the network of AEAI partners in India: public and local authorities, local and international NGOs, research institutes and companies.
4. Promote AEAI’s fundraising in India within the framework of the Association’s overall fundraising strategy.
5. Manage AEAI’s human and material resources in India.
6. Represent AEAI in India vis-à-vis government authorities and partners.
7. Develop AEAI’s teams and their skills in India.
8. Develop a voluntary network and governance bodies within the framework of the Association’s internationalization process.
9. Ensure that the principles of participatory management and of a multidimensional organization are respected everywhere within AEAI’s teams in India.
10. Participate in all crosscutting projects and joint reflections at the international level, along with colleagues from other regions and the International Direction.
11. Respond to all requests for information or contributions made by the International General Direction (IGD) within the mission’s normal framework.
In the long term the incumbent would also be responsible for:
1. Integrating into the International Direction Committee (IDC) and become a fully participating member of it.
2. Develop cross borders projects.
3. Increase cooperation and skill exchanges with other regions within Aide et Action (Africa, Europe, Central America, South East Asia)
EXPERIENCE:
• Overall 12+ years of professional experience with at least 5-7 years in a leadership role (at least functional) in a medium-large organization.
• Well developed skills in program management, fundraising, organizational management, finance, human resource management within an evolving organization.
• Proven experience of policy development and strategy formulation and implementation of strategies in key business areas.
• Experience in the Education sector.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and effective success in developing networks of stakeholders, skilled in communicating with a cross section of people through various platforms.
• It would be desirable if the incumbent has the ability to converse in French.
• Understanding of the not for profit sector.
• Exposure to interacting with government would be a bonus.
Position reports to the International General Director
Compensation would be commensurate with experience.
Location could be any of the following offices: Delhi, Hyderabad or Chennai.
