National Conference on DEMYSTYFYING DEVELOPMENT IN NEPAL: The Social Work Agenda - deadline for registration 30 August 2010, Kathmandu, Nepal

The Nepal School of Social Work is a young and prominent Social work organization in Nepal. It has a clear vision to contribute to policy discussions in Nepal. In the last five years the school is consistently organizing conferences to contribute to the discussion discourse on various issues. This time we would like to further unpack (demystify) the developmental issues like environment, adoption, HIV and AIDS and migration through different sessions in the conference. The aim is to critically understand the politics of policies that determine the path of development in Nepal.

OVERALL OBJECTIVES

• Share research presentations of social work students to different stakeholders and analyze the contribution of social work research to civil society of Nepal.
• Share experiences of adoption model practices in South Asian context and suggest for policy development for Nepal.
• Discuss issues on children living with HIV and AIDS and explore for future directions.
• Discuss issues on migration and refugee and its effects on the development
• Develop shared understanding of the development, opportunities and challenges of social work education in Nepal.
• To raise awareness about Global Environmental Governance

PARTICIPANTS PROFILE

Young researchers, students from various universities, social work professionals, development practitioners, Media professionals, Policy makers, Political representatives, Donors and NGO partners.

REGISTRATION FEES
All those who wish to participate in the conference are requested to register within August 30th, 2010. The registration fee includes the cost of documents and refreshment provided during the conference. The fees for the registration will be as follows:

A. Early Bird Registration
Institutional: Rs. 900(INGOs) Rs. 400(NGOs)
Individual: Rs.200
Students: Rs.100 (provide copy of ID)
B. Onsite Registration
Institutional: Rs. 1000(INGOs) Rs. 500(NGOs)
Individual: Rs.250
Students: Rs.150 (provide copy of ID)
